Shellac Coromandel is animal, it comes from a variety of cochineal called «Malacca coccus» and comes mainly from the Coromandel region in India. Do not confuse the shellac Coromandel with the product used by the Japanese which is of plant origin.
In trade there are different qualities of shellac, more or less discolored and dewaxed. Personally, I use the blonde dewaxed when I mix my pigments.
