Peter Roeder (Peps)
Artist Nationality Switzerland. Born in 1957 in Estavayer-the-Lake. Installed and professing participating in working life since 2005 Monthey, located rue du Commerce 3.
Self-taught artist, I draw ever since. At school the teacher sent me draw with the girls in sewing class, I drew portraits of the class, modern math and algebra made me mad and then it stung my drawings.
In 1976 I wanted to do graphic design, advertising, I found a place but my father had other artistic ambitions for me, cooking and hospitality…
Cartoon subsequently has taken over, 25 years ago I fell into tattooing, dermographism relating to any style with the advantage of having a living web in 3 dimensions.
Course if the ink is on my major, I could never forget or pencils or brushes or spatulas, or an airbrush… Neither your fingers! ! ! My artwork is more instinctive than thought, I love letting my emotions take over things.
I work in acrylic on canvas or cardboard. I use this medium for abstract work. I enjoy working with the material and give it effect. I use glue, plaster, sand that I manipulated with various tools, brushes, tip metal spatula, roller, sponge, plastic sheet bubble ect.
Abstract painting allows me to express feelings that would be very difficult to express in figurative art. This painting allows me to manipulate matter and test the color. By material, I build a table, then I leave it to the color and effects. I marvel at an unexpected result.
But my quest is just beginning and practice of art is for me a series of discoveries that allow me to advance in life. I still have so much to discover…
