Study of a young Sean Connery nearing completion. I often leave an unfinished or simplified look to the periphery of my work. It seems to add a depth of interest to my drawings that they lack if they become too focused on realism. If I'd wanted a photo, taking one with camera is a lot less hassle, after all!

Actually, I think many people these days tend to assume too easily that the photograph is the epitome of realism. A good draughtsman can create something far more lifelike which captures a character much more accurately. But that's another discussion for another day!
