This is a Ming Dynasty double gourd shaped vase. Its design is very classical. In Chinese language, the pronunciation for «gourd» (hu lu) is similar to the word for «fortune and wealth» (fu lu). Therefore, gourd is very popular among Chinese people. The gourd-shaped vase was created out of people's fondness for it. From the typical blue and white color and the painting skills, we can find that it is an article of Ming Dynasty. The painting skill is mellifluent and compact, the color is dense and cascading, which is typical Ming Dynasty style. The vase is embellished with images of 11 figures painted in blue on white. The gestures of the figures are vivid and natural. The fluid lines are distinctive.
