Fourquet Leon (1841-1939) - «Woman sitting Algeria - Terracotta red brown patina, signed and dated. Very good condition.
Fourquet Leon (1841-1939): Former student Francois Jouffroy at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he participated in the Salon of French artists in 1886 and obtained the same year an accession to the Rome Prize, and other medals (1873.1879.1889. ). Then he moved to Algiers where he was appointed professor at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Algiers in 1884. He participated actively in the lives of Algerians Artists Association (saa), founded in 1897 and he was President in 1909. He died in Algiers in 1939.
