Medium: Original mixed media painting, watercolour, crayon and rubber stamps. Signed by the artist in black pen and dated 1959
Note: “La Lune en Rodage” was a work published by Art Miscellany in Basel, Switzerland in 1960 by Editions Panderma and written by Carl Laslo. The work, in an edition of 60, included a portoflio of Original prints and drawings by famous artists of the day including Arman, Hans Arp, Lucio Fontana, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Piero Manzoni, Victor Vasarely and others. In the case of the drawings each, like ours which comes from this portfolio, was unique and it follows that our example is part of a series of 60 similar works.
Arman is considered the Founding Father of “Nouveau Realism”. In the late 1950’s he launched himself into “accumulations”. This was a technique by which he used “found” objects to create works of art. This present piece is very representational of this oeuvre and of interesting early date. It is presented in an interesting contemporary very heavy perspex frame probably dating from the 1960’s
