The Artist:
Is an artist of an inexhaustible imagination, sensitive to his surroundings and with a unique talent to reinterpret their environment through painting, sculpture and engraving. Castellon Ripoll, considered one of the international values of contemporary Spanish art, has placed his work in different countries of Europe, America and Asia for over fifty years of work. Throughout his brilliant career, has acquired great prestige and recognition outside of Spain for its boldness and imagination with the forms, colors, with the matter. During that time also known Ripollés redefined because it has never remained static changes. And he has this rejuvenation in the form of restful transitions that today allow us to probe the evolution of a pictorial and sculptural works differently in each period but only in one essential attribute: it is all done by a genius.

The Engraving mater

Ripollés dignify the paper through the etching. Any painting or sculpture is growing in its infancy, preliminary, in which the artist released on paper, in schematic and simple lines, a world covered by the genius. The paper is the substrate of art. It all starts on a blank page, blank against the impulse of genius. So what adds value Ripollés engraved with a different, very dynamic and strong personality that reveals the force of all creation.

Through numbered collections and spread over different countries around the world, Ripollés presents a work in different formats and styles. Ripollés discovered the first recorded in 1977 in Holland, where he illustrated the book by Josep Pla. Through aquatints and etchings, hastens the drama of the Expressionist school, with whom he identified his prints until 1989, according to Juan Fabra doctoral thesis on the author's artwork.

Thereafter, Ripollés subjected to etching to the laws of metamorphosis, the dialogue between the subject and creator. In this symbiotic association arises matérico engraving, a product of obsession Ripollés be tested, transform and innovate with all kinds of materials. The originality and talent are chosen by managers, relying on a very personal composition, full of daring and disparate elements that gives meaning holism only genius. Scrap iron plates, pigments and metal waste is subjugated to a new creative language. First geometric rigidity, as in the series Over Flors, and after formal independence, as the collection Bottichela.

Goya and Durer were in the past, names decisive in the history of printmaking. Ripollés has also made its contribution in this field with a contemporary review and a very distinctive linen paper, thick and rugged, providing depth and relief, in all sorts of colors, a species unique gesture by the artist.
