This piece, created in 1986, was carved from ivory of an elephant tusk purchased from an antique dealer.
I wanted to represent at once the speed of the fireball and the roar of the engine (which does not appear in the photo) contained a «screaming mouth. »
The base is made of a rare stone (two known deposits in the world) a shale that is operated for the perfume industry (crushed and distilled).
