Representative Mont Gerbier Sedge (alt. 1551M. ) - The Chalet - Restaurant (alt. 1450 M. ).

In the foreground we can see a white dog and back at the foot of the Massif Chalet-Restaurant contrast with the mountain.

Mount Gerbier-de-Rush (Occitan Gerbier de Joc) is located in the communes of Saint-Martial and Saint-Eulalie Upper Ardeche. Mount Gerbier-de-Rush is famous for its peculiar shape and its extraordinary natural beauty and wildlife, but also because it accommodates its three basic sources of the Loire, the longest river in France.

Site classified since 1933, in order of importance is the second tourist site of the Department of Ardeche, after the gorges of Ardeche.

Etymology:

The origin and etymology of the name of Mount Gerbier-de-Rush may be misleading because it is neither «Gerbier» or «rush», but a pre root -Celtic, became misunderstood, has been recomposed from Gar means «rock» (cf. Le Gers, Gerbizon) 1 and jugum for «mountain» (cf. Beaujeu Asperjoc) 1. At the foot of a basalt flow based on the crystalline basement.

Description:

Modest relief volcanic Mount Gerbier-de-Rush culminates at an altitude of 1551 M. It is a protuberance phonolitic, dated 8 million years, a time when many volcanoes were still active in the Auvergne.

Events:

Every Easter Monday, is organized on the site a meal under the banner of «beef fat Mézenc end. » The fat end of Mézenc is also an appellation of origin.

Early June, was organized the ceremony of the «circle of three sources» that meets at St. Eulalia, representatives of other villages are born great rivers of Europe, like the Danube. (Source Wikipedia).
