Art Nouveau Diamonds & Gold Dreamy Lady Locket

A typical Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) locket in gold set with 14 simplified rose cut diamonds featuring the so called whiplash motif. Signed, but the signature is not clearly readable. We read something like «Huguenir», «Huguenin» or «Hugenia» and then the three letters «Dep» (for depos (c) or depose).

When looking for the maker we found the name: Huguenin. In 1868 the Huguenin brothers opened up a small workshop at Le Locle, Switzerland. Over the years the company developed and specialised in the manufacturing of medals until its centenary in 1968 when it changed its corporate name to: Huguenin Medailleurs S. A.

Although not sure this pendant is by this company, the combination of the resemblance of the name and the type of work the Huguenin brothers did, could indicate it was made by this company.
