Round belly bowl on « piédouche », heat-pinched trilobate neck, predominance of the yellow color, dark purple base decorated with red flowers. Industrial proof acid etched enameled glass, according to the Vitrification technique.
This « avant-gardiste » technique as the Maison Daum would say, dating back to the first year of the XXth century, consists in a melting on the surface which closely combines powder and glass. This latter takes on a coarse aspect, sometimes increased by a piling up of powder. Applications – in the shape of waterdrops, tailpieces, tears, insects etc… - Confer great artistic value to these vitrified bowls. An acid etched engraving can also render a flowers, leaves, fruits or landscapes décoration. Generally, the wise use of vitrification and the insertion of colored powders between two glass layers are two of the most original techniques of the Verreries de Nancy. The Art Nouveau style, mainly inspired by nature, marks the beginning of the first step of creation and decoration for the Maison Daum, and it brought them international fame during the 1900 World's Fair.
