The pilgrimage of Kumbh Mela (Kumba Mela or Kumbh Mela) in India is the largest religious gathering in the world, in his gigantic form (Maha Kumbh Mela, 75 million pilgrims in total in 2001), which runs for nearly two months every 12 years in the same sacred place.
There are four sacred places, Nasik, Ujjain, Prayag (Allahabad) and Hardwar, it occurs every three years alternately in these four cities.
According to tradition, the gods, by fighting to have the nectar of immortality, overthrew four drops that fell in the rivers of the four places listed, become sacred places.
