The pilgrimage of Kumbh Mela, in the north is the largest religious gathering in the world. Every 12 years, for two months, it attracts over 40 million pilgrims. All come to pray and worship the Ganges, one of the seven sacred rivers of India. Believers believe that immersion in the river will allow them to wash their bad «kharma». Immersion that proves dangerous to the health of millions of Indians for the river is seriously polluted. In many places, it is directly related to the Sewer millions of cubic meters of industrial wastewater are also discharged each year. But despite the warnings of scientists, pilgrims continue to swim.
