Original silkscreen print, 1973, attached to a printed page of poetry written in English. The text is badly printed and somewhat blurred.
Condition: Generally in Good Condition
Edition: There were 3 editions of this work made:
Edition a - the book in English with a slip case containing 6 signed loose prints - Edition 200 with 20 proofs
Edition b - The book with French text with a slip case containing 6 loose prints - Edition 200 with 20 proofs
Edition c - the book in English with a slip case containing 22 signed loose prints printed on paper with wide margins - Edition 200 with 20 proofs
Our present piece is a rare trial proof never bound into a book for edition a or C. We know this because of the fact that it is attached to the sheet of poetry.
Reference: Alan Cristea : Patrick Caulfield, the Complete Prints 1964 - 1999, Number 38t
Note: The work comes from a book of 22 screenprints entitled “Some poems of Jules Laforgue”. Our example is a rare and interesting trial proof made during experimentation to print the work.
