Medium : Vintage Silver Gelatin print, 1958, verso is the agency stamp (obscured by a partly legible label). This reads as follows: “Jean Cocteau, L’Homme orchestre du tout Paris, deja academician, poete, romancier, dramaturge, peintre et dessinateur, vient d’ajouter une nouvelle corde a l’arc de ses talents: La Poterie. Une exposition des realisations de jean Cocteau vient d ouvrier a la Galerie du Pont des Arts............

Note: It would seem this was taken at the opening of the show which started Cocteau as a ceramic artist. The work which he holds is idetifiable from the Catalogue Raiosnee by Annie Guedras: “Trois faces - noir et blanc”. A large plate (36 cms) made in 1958 in an edition of 30. It is number 100 in the catalogue.
