The Salon d'Automne, French Artists, Drawing and Painting in Water, Rikka Ayasaki studying the art of sumi-e in the workshop of master Shogaku Suzuki, Tokyo.
The art of sumi-e is a form of ink painting developed in China during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), from the practice of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy.
Painting sumi-e uses such as Chinese calligraphy brush and ink, only black and all shades of gray. Sometimes a touch of green, red or blue to embellish the design.
The art of sumi-e is a meditation and reflection before the drawing, in the preparation of materials. The first reason is the dragonfly, camellias, bamboo, plum blossom and chrysanthemum.
This work represents the theme of mountain and sky, often used in the work of Rikka Ayasaki.
