Note: This was one of a series of 6 ceramics which Picasso had made at this time consisting of ash trays. The other five were named “Bird with worm (Ramie 172), Bird with tuft (Ramie 173), Bird under sun (Ramie174), Picador (Ramie 176), Bull (Ramie 177). All the pieces were authorised reproductions : made by the workshop in Madoura under the direction of Picasso.
