A porcelain pendulum of Jacob Petit, decorated with polychrome enamel flowers resting on a base with four scroll feet. A profusion of all kinds of flowers with extremely thin petals overcomes the enamel dial, with Roman numerals.
Around 1830 until his death in 1865, Jacob Petit, porcelain maker established in Paris and Avon, near Fontainebleau, produced vases, cups, statuettes, groups and clocks to the shimmering polychromy, very recognizable. His highly original style, full of fancy and very eclectic, based primarily on the rococo. Criticized or admired for their time, the works of Jacob Petit gave rise to numerous imitations from various manufactures. The authentic pieces bear jp in blue or hollow. They are characterized by an abundance of rococo motifs, scrolls, flowers and shells.
