Pair of cassolettes

These cassolettes of antique inspiration are connected to neo-classical style which developed in France since the late 18th century. Neo-classicism wants a return to simple and pure forms of antiquity in reaction to the exuberance of rococo. Under the Restauration movement fades into the historicism style, which produces a wide variety of styles throughout the 19th century.
