After a first training in the workshop of his father, wood-carver, Gilbert Privat is registered at the school of the Art schools of Toulouse then at the national School of the Art schools.
He gains a second price of Rome in 1921. Several official rewards come to punctuate its career and it takes part in various international exhibitions between 1925 and 1939.
It is an unquestionable success as its abundant production testifies some which is explained so much by the official orders of which it is honoured than those with decorators of reputation who include his works in their sets.
The artist knew to create his style by marrying his solid traditional formation with his sensitivity. Its art is noble and of a moving simplicity. It is expressed largely through its harmonious and elegant interpretation of the female body.
