The esu statue found in otu but migrated from ogbomosho by an esu devotee (esuleye) in yoruba tribe in nigeria who married a slave woman. And got punishment from other wives metted out on her, it was as result of the pregnancy she had for their husband. She was given an agama lizard to be eatten as food before she gave birth to a baby boy. Such a punishment enable the slave woman to pronounce a curse that any wife from the family of esuleye must be given an agama lizard to eat before they can deliver a baby. This cursed used to persist up to date in the family of esuleye. This incidence called for yearly celebration in the family in which esuleye used to magically pipe-out the agama lizard every three years intervally and that's why the object became the symbol of the yearly celebration in the family of esuleye
