Author of numerous books on international politics, Lesur left from 1819 to 1843, a Yearbook which remains an important historical documentary source for that period. This book contains a description of the different classes of society (with an appendix, some economic tables: exports, imports and finances of France in 1789, Budget 1817). His presentation of the government and institutions is not without a certain liberalism. After outlining the political development of Europe before and during the Revolution, he is concerned about the present situation of France in its political relations with European powers.
