Watercolour. A port (probably port of Bordeaux, or perhaps more to the Basque Country? ). On a little watercolor paper rippled 32.5 X 25 cm. Without visible watermark. Signed lower right «has Lhote, who was, with Gleizes, the theorist of Cubism. As for the role of Picasso, it is refocusing!
We admire the feat that has been to make a water in a cubic, and more of the hulls of ships - among the most difficult forms to transcribe in realism, cubism, a fortiori, not to mention the curves of arc- in skyscrapers. This is one of its most successful on this difficult issue. We also note the record, very clever of the crane from the bottom, in form and color of giraffe! This challenge
Cubist and its success against the physical nature justifies its price. The conservation status as (perfect).
Certificate of Jean Gouin, nephew and having right of the artist, dated, 25/02/1993. Proposed frame. Stamp Collecting in the previous frame back, and back to work.
Nb : The original tones are not reproduced here perfectly.
