Note: Picasso first met Sylvette David in 1954 when she was a young girl in the town of Vallauris. He was enamoured by her classical poise and beauty and lovely poneytale and tired to persuade her to model for him. She was extremely shy and it took some time before she did agree to work with him. Picasso went on to produce 40 paintings and drawings of her. In Picasso's portraits we note her elongated neck, the ponytail in semi-abstract form, her face in the cubist style. There was a book recently published on the relationship between the artist and hid model called “Picasso and the girl with the ponytail” by Laurence Anholt
