Medium : Original etching in black, 1856, fifth state, a later impression from the cancelled plate, on cream, moderately thick, medium weight, moderately textured, laid paper
Size:Paper size : 250 x 330 mms Plate: 75 x 83 mms
Reference: Shapiro 3 ; Delteil 9 ; Adhemer 3
Note: This is a small format etching showing the character of the linework. The use of hatchings creates a subtle tone. The impression in the fifth state was printed after the death of the artist from a plate cancelled by three strong diagonal lines.
