André Derain (1880 - 1954)
Title: Six standing figures
Medium: Drawing in pencil. There is a stamp below right ATELIER ANDRE DERAIN in an oval. Verso a further stamp reads “23/24 Mars 2002 - Vente So Knaublich - Sainte Germaine-En-Laye - Mes Loiseau & Schmitz”. In the centre of the box so formed “Andre Derain”. The drawing is not signed by hand.
Note: There was a very large auction sale of the artists work made at this Auction House in St Germain en Laye in which this drawing was included. The sale took place following the death of Raymonde Knaublich, companion and friend of Derain and mother to their son Boby. At the death of the artist Boby inherited part of the estate of his father and upon Boby’s early death his mother inherited the estate.
