Reference: Although there is no catalogue raisoneee for the Tapestries of Cocteau there is one for the pottery (Jean Cocteau, ceramiques” by Annie Guedras). In this work the prototype for our work made by the artist in pollychrome is described (Number 301). That piece was made in an edition of just one example for a Mr Jean Moreau, Cap d’Ail, France. The relationship between Cocteau and Jean Moreau is of interest. Morea was the founder and President of the Centre Mediteraneum. When he met Cocteau in 1957 he was undertaking some performances of plays by Garcia Lorca. Cocteau became very involved with the thearte and worked together with Moreau on a number of projects. Cocteau returned to this theme also in his pottery (see Annie Guedras 175 for a unique work made as a plate with essentially the same design).
