9. J’entend siffler le train - tmpx. Tmpx Tmpx
Ji hear Whistling the train is a 1962 French song performed, the same year, by Richard Anthony who made it a great success and by Hugues Aufray.

This is an adaptation of 500 Miles, an American folk song, probably written by Hedy West. The French lyrics are by Jacques Plante.

The song

A young man hears the whistle of a train in the distance, he knows that it will forever take the one he loves. He did not have the courage to come to the quay to say goodbye…

«I thought it was better / Leave us without a farewell / I would not have had the heart to see you again / But I hear the train whistling, But I hear the train whistling, How sad a train whistling in the evening »

He already regrets it, but too late.

«I almost ran towards you / I almost shouted towards you / It was hardly if I could hold myself back (… ) /
And I hear this train whistling / And I hear this train whistling / I will hear this train whistling all my life »
