INSTA’Vanitas - tmpx. Tmpx Tmpx
Insta'Vanitas is an allegory on one of Instagram's approaches to vanity.

Too many standards kill the standard.

Self-esteem is a necessary feeling for one's well-being. Instagram has understood this and is playing with it, developing its algorithms, which will give you the impression of being someone extraordinary. Your self-esteem will turn into vanity.

Vanity first designates a human defect: pride.

So a vain person is pretentious, very satisfied with himself.
The word vanity, however, has another meaning. It comes from the Latin word «vanitas» meaning vain, that is to say that which is empty, hollow, useless and illusory.

Instagram would be harmful to the most fragile users.

On Instagram, everything seems wonderful and impeccable: advantageously filtered selfies, dreamy sunsets or snowy peaks, seemingly perfect lives…
To the point of causing anxiety and lower self-esteem among some users.

Instagram is perhaps the most harmful social network for mental health and well-being.
The application is based on the art of staging (necessarily advantageous) his own life, and maintains this feeling specific to his time.

Men with protruding abs and Photoshoped women parade in homepage, provoking social anxiety and devaluation of his own body.

Instagram is a very emotional app.

Its presentation in the form of images, with almost no captions, implies a very emotional relationship with the content, not necessarily rationalized. The pernicious aspect of Instagram is its home page, which puts everything on the same plane, personal photos and other posts. We compare, we see the number of likes of others.

We act constantly according to others, we are in a validation process in the hope of increasing our notoriety. A kind of perpetual movement that has nothing to do with self-esteem, on the contrary…
