Horse steles of this kind have been established in ancient China only in luxury Anwesenund / or in official buildings, to tie the horses. There were luxury items and in most cases they were crowned by stone lions, which brought the importance and power of expression to the landlord. These horses Steele shown here is a decided rarity and represents one of the first Steele Period of the Qing Dynasty (Qing Dynasty to Ming transition period), ie from 1644 to about 1670, but it shows a monkey instead of the mighty lion. It's practically a caricature, a clown show of force against the new rulers of the old ruling elite Ming.
