Auguste Nicolas Cain (10 Novembre1821 Paris, Paris 6 August 1894) was a French sculptor, specialized in animal sculpture in the wake of Antoine Louis Barye. After working in the family butcher Augustus Cain entered the studio of alexander Guionnet then became a pupil of Francois Rude. As Louis Antoine Barye he studied animal anatomy drawing in the Jardin des Plantes. In the 1840s he proposed models for goldsmiths Fannière Brothers, Rudolf Christof and House. In 1852 Augustus Cain married the daughter of the sculptor Pierre Jules Conducts he will suffer very much influence.
