Title: “Chevalier a la tour”
Medium: Original drawing, in brown ink, 1963, signed with the artists innitials and the trademark star.
Note: This is a scene from “Pellease et Melisande” a lyrical drama by Debussy for which Cocteau designed the scenery in 1926. It was a well known production, at the time, and Cocteau’s designs were not universally accepted by the critics who accused him of “egocentricity”. Our drawing shows nothing of this trait.
Authenticity: The buyer acquires a certificate by Annie Gueras, the Cocteau expert, dated 25th August 2009, archive number 5008 d, made in Perigaux, France

Provenance: The Estate of Jacques Migeon, France
