Edition: There was an edition made for the book of 6000 on narrow margins. A further signed and numbered edition of 90 proofs were also made. Our piece is a trial proof on Arches paper with wide margins and unsigned

Note: Chagall worked with Jacques Lassaigne and published a group of Lithograpohs to be included within his volume in 1967. The example of our work to be included in the book would have had no margins and been folded for inclusion. Our work is a proof made with wide margins and never folded.

Note: In 1966 Chagall attempted an ambitious project : depicting the Story of the Exodus. The suite consisted 24 lithographs in colour and are a tour de force of exuberance and religious fervour.
