This is a big ink stone. It is made of It is made Duan Stone, which is the best stone in Zhao Qing in Guangzhou province. Duan Stone is also the most precious material for making ink stones. It is exquisite and just like the skin of a baby. Figures, pavilions and trees are carved all around the ink stone. There are 21 figures of various kinds carved in the ink stone. On the bottom is the carving of the mandarin ducks playing with the water. Judging from its artscraft, we can tell that this is a work of art in the early years of Qing Dynasty. It is practical and also it is a valuable work of art worth appreciating and collecting.
