MiArt’s mission is to promote progressive gallery operators involved in the production of exhibitions and catalogs whose activities work in synergy with those of the artists they represent and who complement their business – the driving force of the art industry – with extensive activities of a cultural nature.
To achieve these aims, the MiArt Selection Committee is the first in Italy to draft a Code of Ethics that embodies a desire to bolster gallery operators’ work in supporting and promoting contemporary art, their integrity and professionalism, and their exhibitions.
As a part of this commitment, at MiArt 2007 in March, the mayor of Milan together with MiArt inaugurated the “Ambrogino d’oro per l’arte,” the highest honor given by the Commune of Milan. It was awarded to major gallery operator Ernst Beyeler.
At the Fair, MiArt therefore aims to provide galleries with the best conditions to promote artists and artworks, with a special emphasis given to the stands (which have museum standard 4m high walls), the promotion of the event (MiArt 2007 attracted 37.853 visitors and featured in a large and diverse cross-section of the press), and involving official bodies, prominent collectors, and the international industry.
