How to optimize the shipping of your works of art?

 
Congratulations, you just sold your artwork!
Next step: now you need to send your item to the buyer.

1. Determine the shipping costs

You need to give clear and honnest information concerning the shipping costs. We remind you that ArtQuid does not take any commission on the shipping costs.

Weigh your artwork 
  • Shipping costs can be different depending on the weigh and shipping companies
  • Remember also to weigh the box :)
Give the total costs
  • Give the total costs of each shipping company
  • To make it easier for the buyer, feel free to include the shipping costs in the price of your artwork!

2. Prepare your package

The package is the last "physical" contact you have with the buyer. Try to make a good impression on the buyer. Remember that the package is like a gift :)

Get the right packaging materials before the sale, you will gain some time for shipping.
 
  • Choose a resistant package depending on the size, weigh and type of artwork
  • You can use an old package
  • Make sure the artwork is well protected inside the box
  • Make sure to close hermetically your package, if possible with adhesive tape. Do not put strings or handles that could hang and damage your package
  • Write clearly the shipping address to avoid losses
 
3. Follow the shipping and inform the buyer

Now it is time to give your package to the shipping company.
 
For an express delivery
  • When your package is ready, give it to the agency of your choice
  • Try to get some info on the different shipping companies: some of them allow you to print the waybill directly from the internet and they can come directly at your place to get the package
  • Remember to keep the receipt
  • Inform the buyer that the work has been shipped. Give the shipping date and the expected arrival date. Give also the shipping number to track the package

For a hand delivery
  • Be clear and precise on the meeting point: address, date, hour. Remember to exchange mobile numbers in case you need to reach the buyer

  • Inform the buyer of the expected date and time of arrival and give the contact details of the Art shipping company
