«Roude Liew» The Red Lion. Toxic T Tish Roberts

The story about this painting goes as follows:
I was born in Los Angeles and moved to the country of Luxembourg at the age of 3. The country's national colors are the same colors as in the Dutch national flag. Those colors are red, white & blue as we had Royal affiliation with the Dutch and many other countries. I came back to the United States at the age of 19 and returned to la. I then realized that there wasn't any clear distinction between the Dutch national flag and the Luxembourg national flag.

The Red Lion painting that you see here in the photo (in it's unfinished stage) is, actually the luxemburg maritime flag. It has made a difference around the world, as far as the recognition to the country of luxembourg is concerned. To add to all of this, for the last two or three years now; Luxembourg has two well known brothers and other names in the sport of cycling that are ranked under the current best riders in the world. When they started to come into fame because of their accomplishments, the Dutch Red, White and Blue flags where flown. After a while, some Luxembourg people got creative and started flying our maritime flag and it worked! The country and its athletes started getting recognition as their own nation.

The funny thing is, we really don't have any big water ways. The largest river we have is the «Mosel», that connects to the «Rhein» into Germany, but like most rivers it is an important cargo route for all kinds of commodities. To this day there are some that think that we should adapt the maritime flag as the national flag for Luxembourg. As an artist I felt obligated to represent the country that I grew up in.
