Raquel Glottman began her artistic education at Sarah Lawrence College in NY (1989-91). She then moved to Jerusalem, Israel where she studied photography. In 1993 she went back to study in NYC and graduated with honors from The School of Visual Arts in 1995. A year later, after being part of numerous group shows in SOHO and Tribeca, she was invited as 'visiting artist' to the University of Miami. In 1997 she received a full scholarship by the same University to pursue her Master's degree in Art. From 2000-04 Raquel lived in London.
Raquel has been back in Miami for the last 3 years. She has had two one-woman shows at Etra Fine Art Gallery in 2004 at Glottman Showroom in 2006. Her most recent exhibits where at Art Basel Photo Miami 2006 and Miami-Art fair 2007. Her work has also been auctioned by Sotheby's on line and can be seen at www.raquelglottman.com.
Her latest work is a series of images all shot underwater. She relates the element of water to the world of the unconscious, the realm of archetypes and the symbolic universe of dreams. Her subjects appear ethereal, their bodies express profound emotions in a field full of suggested mystery.
