The Berlin sculptor Joachim Dunkel (1925-2002) loved the statuette format that size, which aims at the personal, private viewing at close range. A key feature of darkness world of characters is their compelling creatureness. Women and men appear almost without exception, every costume in her nudity and sexuality in appearance. So they win originality and vitality.
Darkness works are premiered in the Berlin National Gallery (in the Federal Presidential Bust of President Gustav Heinemann) and the Open Air Museum of Sculpture Antwerp. More info at Www.joachimdunkel.de.
