This painting is an order made by a hotel built on a historic site in the 5th arrondissement of Paris
Indeed, its location amounted dice 1171, the buildings of the «Hospital House», the oldest Parisian foundation of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, which later became known as the name of the Knights of Rhodes and of Malta. The arcades of the foreground have been devised in line with a garden overlooking the inner courtyard of the commander whose church, left, was originally placed under the invocation of Saint John the Baptist, Patron Saint of the Hospitaller Order.
