This image in pastel shows the elegance, grace and feeling of movement as this ballet dancer concentrates on her work. The work of Degas was an inspiration here for Ivan. He found this a very enjoyable piece to create incorporating the details with the contrasts of light and shade. It is completed using soft pastels and pastel pencils on pastelmat paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give a three dimensional effect to the completed painting.
