Apple blossoms spring forth from the small and delicate body of the farmer's daughter, seen here holding a partially eaten red apple in her left hand.

The apple is an ambiguous symbol with an extensive history. References to the fruit can be found throughout the ages, written within the pages of various myths and reigious texts.

Figuratively, the apple has been labeled a symbol of temptation. For example, if a person sees an apple in their dreams, some would interpret that to be a sign of corruptibility, especially if that person happens to be guilty of placing too much emphasis on the acquisition of matieral possessions, rather than moments of true value.

The Mediterraneans, however, had an entirely different view of the apple altogether. For them, the pomegranate, fig and quince are the forbidden fruits, while the apple is seen as an ancient symbol of fertility.

The apple blossom is a Chinese symbol that represents peace and beauty. On a more spiritual level, an apple is said to indicate a new begining. Since ancient times, it's been the symbol for fertility amongst certain cultures around the world, and has been attributed to a great many gods.
