Komorebi -115s 4th Street-. Kohki Hiramatsu Kohki Hiramatsu
“Komorebi” is a Japanese which is untranslatable into English. It means the sunlight filtering through the trees. My objective in here is to portray the «Komorebi» to show the aesthetic of pristine scenery. This work is a scenery from the old apartments in Williamsburg. I filtered the sense from Japanese cultural background on the cityscape of New York to create this piece. Compare to the other pen drawing, this work contains more neutral color. I used three types of India ink for the first time for expressing the pale and mild color. I tried to show the warm and calm feeling which hangs in the air. It was an obstacle for me to draw the «Komorebi» and the real trees distinctly. They are quite close but has a different texture. Shadow has a more smooth feeling, and it does not have depth. I have solved the problem by how to compound the color of India ink and how much I am going to use the black rOtring ink with the technical pen.
