Memories of Andalucia was completed in 2009 in oils on canvas and is now in a private collection. In common with Ian's later career work, the images are blended into a semi abstract, almost geometric composition.
This painting marks the turn in Ian's style brought about by undertaking a commission in the Granada area of Spain which required a more modern abstract rendition. Having the opportunity to compose the work outside at the time gave him increased awareness of the colours and landscape lines which formed the basis of his unique style today.
