Named after the Japanese Sun Goddess Amaterasu, this triptych is based on portraits of geishas.
In Japanese mythology the Sun Goddess Amaterasu hid herself in a cave and would not come out. So the gods held a mirror up to the mouth of the cave and when she saw herself reflected she emerged as the light of creation.
The full range of fluorescent hues is used to create these vibrant portraits
