Pantocrator (in Greek Almighty). The figure of God the Redeemer-Creator that appears in full body seated in the dome of some Romanesque and Byzantine churches. He always blesses with his right hand while he carries the open gospel in his left facing the public. The hand with which he blesses usually has two straight fingers - the index and the heart - and his thumb appears detached from the palm, forming the number three of the Holy Trinity. Everything in the Pantocrator is symbolism, in an image that is usually hieratic, without expression, to the taste of the time, in which art tried to enlighten you, not to move you. That Almighty and Creator God who, looking at the viewer, presents himself as the incarnation of Divine Justice, the God-Judge, sitting on his pulpit to judge us all.
