For Chevrolet, as well as other automobile manufacturers, 1946 meant the end of World War II and a return to some pre-war models, which by necessity had been discontinued. Meanwhile, other trucks that had remained in wartime production had changed little during the war years, so Model 46 saw the introduction of only a few new items. Chrome
Once the war was over, chrome could once again be used as a design material. As a result, in 1946, designers of cars and small trucks released models that revealed much of the shiny metal. The 1946 Chevrolet pickup 3100 models are especially noted for their chrome grille up front.
