Kangxi Dish Tray & Cups. Dream Art Gallery
Dish Shaped Trays With Tea Cups
Qing Dynasty, Kangxi Period 1662-1722 AD.
Dishes Size: Height 2.5 cm, Diameter 13.5 cm, Cups Size: Height 4cm, Diameter 5.5cm

Imperial set of two dish shaped trays and two tea cups with incised ornaments of dragons, Kangxi mark and of the period. Incised ornament was common on Qing monochrome-glazed ware, as in this case, with precisely drawn dragonets. The bright shade of yellow, described as «Ginger Yellow» in Qing texts was typical of glazes of the Kangxi period, occurring mostly on table sets and tea sets. Pieces in this shape were made as a set and used with a dish-shaped tray for serving tea. The eggshel thin body is evidence of remarkable skill on the part of the potter. This pieces bear an imperial symbol; the five clawed dragon motif, the use of which was restricted to the emperor and his empress. Please note photo colour might deviate slightly in comparison to the original artefact.
