The Magic of Marie-Helen; She can make animals speak!
Look closely. A little chick is winking at you !
A pig shows you his discontent, a sheep her distress.
Each watercolour has a story to tell, a message to pass on. Nothing is insignificant. Everything is delicately put in place to express her great love of animals, from the most humble to the most powerful.
She can pursuade you to look differentely at a little mouse or an owl.
With her finess, her technique, her deep feeling of empathy and her virtuosity, she captures the essence of a look, or an attitude.
Helping animals is everything to her.

Marie-Hélène Stokkink was born 1944 in Venlo, Holland
Studied at the Artschool in Rotterdam, certificated in 1965.
Next she went sketching in the Artschools
Academie Julian and la grande Chaumière in Paris.
From 1967 till 1994 she worked as a stylist in Amsterdam for a lot of magazines and
As a costumedesigner for the filmindustry and television

In the meantime from 1980 she is starting with waterpaintings
With the first exhibition in 1988 in Amsterdam.

A part of her production is devoted to nudes after sketching living models.
The other part is devoted to animals.
And so she starts with ink and water (lavis). Which is now only watercolors.


In 2000 she moved to Buis les Baronnies (Drôme Provençale)
And in 2002 she has the first exhibition, followed by many others.
In 2015 she moved back to Holland
And she has also an atelier in Auray /Bretagne
