My inspiration comes from nature itself, from its most beautiful essence. Thus, particular vibrations of some places naturally penetrate my canvas.
The origin of my work is always a journey, sometimes geographic, always internal. A holiday souvenir, a picture in a book, a landscape, and curves come on the lin. Then the work gets rid of its pattern, to be interpreted. A dream, a regression, and masses of colour lay down and melt together. I love to shape the matter of underwoods with paste (sometimes adding compost), pulling it with a knife before depositing some light. I love to caress air and water with my fingers or brushes, using glazing medium to better render the essence, the transparency of a stream, the lighting effects in the leaves, the elevation of a flame, the mist, letting an imaginary world enters in our life, in front of our eyes… When I start to paint, I step over doors, voices of children become far and I have access to another world. Little people don't come more to light in my canvas than in the countryside, but an open heart may let you feel their enchanting presence. |
